SellYourGadget needed expert ecommerce trade-in platform development to transform their outdated store. Sell Your Gadget is a UK-based platform for trading in used iPhones, Samsungs, and other electronic devices. However, the client had an outdated, slow WordPress and WooCommerce store with poor user experience and mobile navigation. In fact, they needed a complete overhaul to stay competitive.
The Challenge: Outdated Store, Slow Performance
The challenges were clear. First, the existing WordPress and WooCommerce store was outdated and slow. It offered poor user experience and mobile navigation. As a result, customers struggled to complete trade-ins on their phones. Additionally, the client wanted to migrate the site to a high-performance host to improve load speed. Crucially, they needed a custom WordPress/WooCommerce plugin that could integrate with their partners’ APIs. This plugin would securely accept and process trade-in orders placed on third-party comparison and affiliate websites. It would inject them directly into WooCommerce as native orders.
Ecommerce Trade-In Platform Development Solution
We delivered a comprehensive ecommerce trade-in platform development solution with three core components. First, we completed a full UI/UX redesign. We redesigned the entire user interface and user experience using the Kadence theme and Kadence blocks. We used modern typography (Poppins and Montserrat) and a clean, responsive layout. Moreover, we prioritized mobile devices in the design.
Second, we handled performance migration. We migrated the website to a high-performance cloud hosting environment. In addition, we optimized caching and database queries. As a result, we achieved under-second page load times.
Third, we built a custom API integration plugin. We developed a bespoke WordPress/WooCommerce plugin that exposes a secure REST API endpoint. The plugin accepts order payloads from external gadget comparison engines like SellMyMobile. It validates the requests using custom API key headers. Furthermore, it maps the data to WooCommerce orders. It generates trade-in shipping labels. Finally, it triggers automated customer notification flows.
Results: Zero Downtime, 65% Faster
We launched the redesigned website with zero downtime during the hosting migration. Page load speed improved by 65%. Consequently, this drove a 25% increase in conversion rates. The custom API integration plugin successfully processed over 5,000 automated external orders in the first month. Therefore, it eliminated manual entry. It saved over 40 hours of manual administration per week. In addition, it completely resolved order synchronisation errors. The live platform is available at https://sellyourgadget.co.uk/.
