Project overview
Some WordPress sites need to control how mobile-app users access content and features. A client needed a custom plugin to restrict mobile-app users, so that access rules could be enforced consistently instead of depending on theme templates or manual checks. The goal was simple: define who can do what through the app, and have those rules apply every time.

The Challenge: WordPress Does Not Distinguish App Users by Default
Out of the box, WordPress treats a request much the same whether it comes from a browser or an app. That makes it hard to apply different access rules to app users, such as restricting certain content, features, or account actions to specific user groups. Without a dedicated mechanism, restrictions end up scattered across templates and snippets, which is fragile and hard to maintain.

Custom Restriction Plugin Solution
We built a custom WordPress plugin that detects app-based requests and applies configurable access restrictions. Administrators can define which users, roles, or content are restricted for app access, and the plugin enforces those rules centrally. The logic lives in one place, so restrictions behave the same way across the site instead of depending on where a template happens to check.

Results: Consistent, Central Access Control
Access rules for mobile-app users are now defined once and enforced everywhere. Administrators can adjust restrictions without editing templates, and the site behaves predictably for app users. The plugin keeps the access model maintainable as the app and the site evolve.
